CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Navy Petty Officer Second Class Stan Upshaw (left), from Navy Squadron HM-15, and Petty Officer Third Class David Sykes, from Air Station Corpus Christi, recover an Airborne Mine Counter Measures (AMCM) float Oct. 7, 2009.

A Coast Guard HH-65C helicopter crew completed a beach-line search and recovered the lost AMCM float 15 miles north of Port Aransas.

The Navy uses the AMCM float during mine sweeping exercises to clear shipping lanes of possible enemy naval mines and ensure safe passage.

The helicopter crew transported the recovered AMCM float, which is valued at approximately $40,000, back to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.
