Solarized Lady Daguerreotype

In the early days of photography sitters were discouraged from wearing light - particularly white - coloured clothing, as this increased the risk of over exposure (or solarization). This is what has happened spectacularly here with this 1840s daguerreotype of a rather sturdy woman, the pervasive blue tinge being a natural byproduct of the solarization of the image.
