I lived @ Haight & Central from 1977-83 and it was a lot more destitute. I was the same age as these kids, knew some of them and never had the slightest inclination to join them. Really sad.

Love that expression. I lived @ 1327 Haight from 1977-83 and the scene was much the same w/o the shops n' such, just boarded up storefronts & bars. Upon my rt visits it seems a bit better.

      Mr. Folini,
I noticed your response to ibbetania. I want to use this photo on a project website: whosoutthere.wordpress.com/.
I plan to crop it a bit to bring the woman closer. Please let me know if this is not ok with you.
      Thank you,
      Vaughn McIlrath

NADINE ANDERSEN: Do we really need to involve god in this? If god exists and is our friend, why is watching those people suffering while destroying their lives without doing anything? We can live without this kind of friends.

amityamie The fact that you know one individual who bevahes that way doesn't stand for the millions of people who would like to improve their situation but whose life depends on the aid they get and who would die of starvation, get frozen on the streets, or feel totally lonely and detached from society if there weren't volunteers who are there to lend a hand. People like you make a world worse.

The picture is beautiful even knowing there is a sad story behind it. I am creating a website for the everyday people. The people they are not rich. The people they need help and for the people they want to give help. What that means is doing good things. Having dog food left over to give it to a homeless person with a dog.Clothes they don't wear and give them to homeless or shelters. Offer senior citizens help etc. What do they get? Maybe an impressive cake from a lovely grandmother. A smile from a homeless person. A happy wagging tail from a not so lucky pet.
And the feeling that they helped someone and made their life a little bit easier that day. I would like to use your picture on my website if I could. I would be very thankful.
