      They are all over Texas. I used to play with these when I was a kid. This one in your photo has already shed it's brown shell.

      Thanks, I always hear them, but this was my first sighting, which is funny, because once your first, it seems to unlock the door to finding more - I found my first infant one......I think they shed several skins before adulthood. My husband grew up in Texas and also played with them as a child, but he's yet to spot one here on our land.....we have thousands of trees and although you can hear them, the sound echos and can be I found a few more the next day and they were on the same branch as each other - so there was a
