Commercial Type’s new family of typefaces, Marian, began “as a rendering of the copperplate form in Illustrator, almost like a piece of neon script from Sweden.”*

 

Shown here translated to neon by artist and designer Dino Sanchez at the pop-up exhibit on Kenmare Street.

 

Specimen as exhibit: to my knowledge, nothing like this has ever been done before. Judging from the success of this effort, I imagine we will see more shows like this in the future.
