The Road: Cormac McCarthy
Story of a father and young son making their way south to warmer temperatures in the aftermath of an unexplained event that left the Earth a wasteland. No living vegetation, no animals and only a handful of roaming survivors trying to survive in whatever ways they can. The story picks up an undetermined amount of time after whatever event took place that left the world in this condition. This was never explained nor does it really matter, the story is tense and page by page you wonder if the father and son will survive or perish trying. Don't want to give this tale away, but I would recommend for a weekend read as it isn't a very long book (less than 300 pages) and is also written in a bit larger typeface so it goes pretty quickly.
