Contrast: Carmine

    The Blizzard of '06 is an impressive storm - by Sunday afternoon, after a whole day of ceaseless snow, Brooklyn is a jumble of coated contrast.

      Amazed to see that much snow still on trees, since in my experience, that's the first thing to go even if it stays cold.

      Really good...a great composition...creative and good. (321)

      Very nice composition. The high contrast color is certainly eye catching.

      Hope you can stay warm!

      Thanks, everybody. Quix, it hasn't been all that cold, really. I mean, it's cold, but nothing a few layers can't take care of. It was colder, I think, during the Transit Strike. It's been a winter, it has.

      @luisa - I'm glad you like it!

      @peneli - The snow came down thick and wet and aplenty, and it has stayed just about everywhere it fell. This was actually taken right at the tail end and it was still snowing, though the flakes had diminished.

      i was thinking of a great article i read by a designer whose name escapes me. argh.

      that said, my favorite black + white + red + gray visual feast was the movie titus. ye+owza=yeowza.

      i've also considered, l., redoing my web site in this color scheme. and then i get lazy. ;)

      You know, I've never seen the Taymor Titus - I really need to get hold of it. I've always been curious about it. I saw one of the definitive productions of Titus Andronicus at Stratford, the Deborah Warner production with Brian Cox as Titus (and saw it again at Lincoln Center a year or so later). The Warner was considered on par with the 1981 production with Patrick Stewart in the role - how I wish I'd seen that! And so Titus is a necessary, one of these days.

      Sure are pretty colors. I think you'd look great in them.

      I like this for a lot of reasons, I just can't work them out. It's a fav though, so I'll have plenty of time to think about it.

      I'm thinking, colours, lines, contrasts, thirds, patterns. You've got the lot.
