Tribute To Our Heroes 141: America! (Where Is Your Song?)

America! My heart cries out for you!

Where is the you I knew?

Where is your song?

"My country 'tis of thee sweet land of Liberty of thee I sing!

Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims' pride,

From every mountainside

Let freedom ring!" (^)

America! Why do you accept this tyranny?

Where is your liberty? That you once knew?

Where is your song?

"God bless America, land that I love

Stand beside her and guide her

Through the night with a light from above

From the mountains, to the prairies

To the oceans white with foam

God bless America

My home sweet home" (#)

America! When did your freedom leave? And why can't we believe? You've given up?

Where is your song?

"Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?" (*)

America! When will the people see? They've taken LIBERTY?

Where is your song?

"From the Halls of Montezuma

To the Shores of Tripoli;

We fight our country's battles

In the air, on land and sea;

First to fight for right and freedom

And to keep our honor clean;

We are proud to claim the title

of United States Marine." (@)

America! When will we all stand tall? And make our voices call? Freedom's Song:

"And I’m proud to be an American,

where at least I know I’m free.

And I won't forget the men who died,

who gave that right to me.

"And I gladly stand up,

next to you and defend her still today.

‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land,

God bless the USA." (%)

Where is your song? How'd we go so wrong? What is YOUR song?
