Tears in the Dust
This is a cotton field being plowed under because of a poor yield.. Not enough to offset the cost of picking and ginning it.
This task is being, ( if I were to guess ) done by the farmer by himself on a tractor, not big equipment , nor extra manpower. He planted and cared for this crop, prayed for rain at just the right time and hoped for a bumper crop. IT rained, but, when the cotton had bloomed...not what any farmer wants.
This has to be a lonely , heartbreaking and stressful task.. This is his life, his pride, his income.
This is a family farm, not a Corporation farm.. I know many of these folks. Most are farming their grandparents land that was purchased when they immigrated from what was once Czechoslovakia.
