Dedicated to Edmund, the last king of East Anglia and Christian Martyr, the beautifully proportioned impressive church at Southwold with it's massive square tower standing 100 feet tall is claimed by some to be the best Medieval church in an English coastal town, Built over a period of around 60 years between the 1430s to the 1490s it replaced an earlier, smaller church destroyed by fire.
