Ghosts of the Tundra -- Rocky Mountains, CO

The environmental conditions on this particular morning were a combination of vicious and beautiful. An ice laden wind gusted with enough force to knock me off my feet as I walked along the alpine tundra, just above treeline.


These snow and wind-stunted trees are the last line between the forested world below and the alpine tundra above. The blasting winds obscured the trees in a thick white out most of the time but the occasional clear moments were absolutely remarkable.
