A mute swan glides silently across the tranquil lake surface between myself and a golden sunset. His mate is nearby, but she does not come over until later to say hello. I waited for several minutes to allow the two of them to feel comfortable with me there, then watched as they took turns gliding back and forth and timing my shots to capture their silhouettes as they slowed down or stopped so that there were no large ripples on the surface as they passed through the reflected sunlight on the water. This shot is the male swan, centered in the frame and in the light. The composition is deliberate to show the beauty of the sky, and the graceful curving lines of the swan ans his reflection.
