First AC-Shelby-Cobra CSX0001,Road & Track September 1962.

This is the first AC-Shelby-Cobra.It arrived at Dean Moon's speed shop from England minus engine and transmission and in bare aluminum.Shelby and Moon dropped a new Ford Hi-Po 260 and 4-speed into it and polished the body with Brill-O pads and set out in search of unsuspecting Corvettes! This first Cobra was first painted red, blue then yellow.Shelby wanted each magazine writer to think they were testing a new car.

I think Dean Jeffries painted this Cobra a pearl yellow and was a huge hit at the 1963 Detroit Auto Show. This paint later turned to a mottled pink color after alot of time in the sun.The engine was Ford XHP-260-1 V-8.
