I almost wanted to learn how
This shop was apparently for people who sew; I think lessons were also given. Regardless, the window was a delight in the late afternoon sun.
I remember trying to learn to use a sewing machine in Home Economics class in Junior High School. All the girls took Home Ec; all the boys took shop. Can any of you young ones believe there were such classes? I hated Home Ec with a passion. We made really bad muffins that were utterly tasteless, learned about "health," and had to sew a skirt. I made a full skirt from black and white checked cotton. My mother (who did sew) took it apart when I brought it home and remade it correctly. I don't remember ever wearing the damn thing.
