Her First 'Real' Street Shot
Today was 'take your daughters street shootin'' day at the Viewminder household.
I took my two older daughters out for a fun night of street photography in Chicago.
We were driving to Wicker Park and we pulled up next to this guy in a jeep without doors on it.
My oldest daughter... she's twelve... grabbed my Nikon D300 and didn't hesitate for a second before pulling off this shot.
Chikeesh... chikeesh... chikeesh... chikeesh... chikeesh... chikeesh.
She took six shots.
This might just be the best shot of the night.
The guy was no more than three feet away from her window and he wasn't smiling when she started.
The little 'Viewminderette' hadda have some 'tacks' to pull it off.
He looked over and sees a twelve year old girl 'poppin' him and he kind of busted up.
The kid is hooked.
It was hard for me to get the camera back and it was even harder for me to get her to call it a night.
Once you do it... once you overcome the fear of it all and just engage with the subject in that moment... you'll become hooked too.
I love sharing my passion for things like this with my children.
She sticks with it I'll put a new D300 in her hands with that wonderful 35mm 1.8 upfront and she'll be the best twelve year old street shooter goin'!
I'm really proud of her.
