Waiting For Little Hands
"Waiting For Little Hands"
Project 52 : 2012 - 14 of 52
Theme: "Vanishing Point"
Late to post again, but still getting my photos in each week, AND with the theme... 14 weeks now and still going strong! The only thing I'm lacking is complimenting all my Flickr friends on their work... I need to cut some time out, and really enjoy, and comment on, all the wonderful work my fellow 52 week travelers are doing. I promise, I'll get to it!
Last week was busy as we were on vacation following my brother's wedding in Arizon, then came home for one day of work, then the Easter weekend. It was go go go!
As the 'staff photographer' of our local news eZine, I covered our community's 3rd annual Easter Egg Dash on Saturday. I often cover, journalistically, all the community events in our small city, not only for the news, but for community enjoyment. I don't just take several pictures and call it done, but spend the entire time capturing the essense and people of the events, then share them with the entire community through my website. It's fun, brings the community together, and is easy advertising. Most of all though, I just love doing it!
Saturday's Easter dash was no different. I captured almost 800 images in the 2-3 hours we were there, and narrowed it down to about 150 select images that not only have a journalism flair to it, but portrait and creative. The public loves it, I get good exposure, and it's continuing practice. If you'd like to view all photos, you can view them on my public client page for this event.
I thought this image captured the 'vanishing point' theme in a couple ways... A) the very narrow DOF achieved with the f/1.7 aperture, takes you from the forefront egg, back through egg-a-licious bokeh to a point that is just not there. B) All those points of color, in the matter of seconds, vanished as the kids were let out to retrieve their bounty! :)
Shooting another baseball game today, this time our local high school, then back into the studio to complete a commissioned product shoot (that is actually going to be artwork), then, fulfill print orders obtained from the above gallery of happy community attendees! :)
I like being a photographer... :)
