Bender's Library Bender

In Futuramaland, when robots don't drink, they get drunk and grow five o'clock shadows/beards made of rust. In a fit of emotion, Bender goes on a no-alcohol bender, doing things totally unrelated to visiting the Public Library! Let the alcohol in the library comments fly!

last year, our local bookseller, where we acquire most of our books, gave us a bottle of Whiskey as a Christmas present. We are reluctant to empty it during working hours though... so if Bender dropped by, he would be catered for.

One morning, I found several unopened bottles of Heineken in our book drop. It was a nice gesture and all, but couldn't they have at least left some good beer?

No comment about alcohol in the library. But, I would like to call your attention to a recent article about librarian stereotypes and some really cool original READ posters.

    UWM librarian dispels stereotypes
    on public radio
University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee electronic resources Librarian John Hubbard appeared on April 4 public radio station WUWM to discuss librarian stereotypes. (The piece is about 33 minutes into the audiofile of the At 10 program.)

    Readers jump into the pool
Librarians who have designed do-it-yourself Read posters have posted their efforts on a Read Posters Pool on the photo-sharing website Flickr....

I've learned one thing about working in libraries...and that is that folks who work in libraries are a drinkin' bunch!
