The building on the left is now an art gallery called Gallery on the Green (http://www.galleryonthegreen.com). About 15 years ago, shortly after I first moved to DC, the Library of Congress produced a poster of this photo. I gave a copy to the gallery when we were there on vacation, but I haven't been back since to see if it is hanging anywhere.

Incredible. Few flickr photographers could take a photo as good as this with the latest technology.

Exposure is spot on. As Steve Beard said, "a visual delight to one's eyes." Well said.

wonderful, shows how much can be done with black and white, I always forget that, this is a wonderful demonstration of that too, but it also brings us fast into the photo!

My parents live on this block, and the most remarkable thing about it to me is that it looks exactly the same. It wasn't until I looked at the cars that I realized it wasn't a recent picture.

Something to be said for maniacally restrictive zoning laws.
