Otis Love Guernsey was a Yale football player (a "kicking fullback," in the New York Times) and "squash tennis" player. His father was Nathaniel T. Guernsey, a prominent corporate lawyer (also a Yalie). Otis married Margaret C. Henderson, and their son Otis Love Guernsey Jr. (1918-2001, also a Yalie) was a drama critic and longtime editor of the "Best Plays" series (Broadway plays, not football plays).
