I'm not sure why the "Hell's Gate" tag has been added.

In "additional information", it says that this photo was taken in 1910, when it clearly says on the photograph that it was taken on 5/27/1911

We’re still working on getting the dates to match! When we first uploaded the photos, we didn’t have 4-digit years in all our records, so we used an early default date for each set.

Hell's Gate was the ride being repaired where the fire started.

Sad day for Brooklyn. Same thing happened in 1942 when Luna Park burned down. Then in 1962 the Steeple Chase was closed. Luckily for me I did go to the Steeplechase a couple of times in my early youth.

What I wouldn't give to have a time machine that could take me back there!
