When my brother decided to throw away his old computer, he remembered there were still some components he wanted to keep. While taking the machine apart, he stumbled upon the Central Processing Unit (CPU). We decided it would make an excellent subject for macro photography. After spending an afternoon behind my camera I can confirm that it's a very nice subject.
All the rows of tiny shiny spikes look very different when enlarged like this. I used a zoom lens with extension tubes. This wasn't as hard to focus as a wide angle with extnsion tubes.
