Murren is a mountainside village in the Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland, south of Interlaken. Murren is at an elevation of 1,650 m (5,413 ft.) above sea level and unreachable by public road. We arrived by taking a cable car from Lauterbrunnen ( 800 Mtrs ) to Grütschalp and a train from Grütschalp to Murren. The Bergbahn Lauterbrunnen-Mürren (BLM) is a mountain railway in the Bernese Oberland area of Switzerland, which connects the villages of Lauterbrunnen and Mürren. The enterprise consists of a connected aerial cableway, also known as the Grütschalpbahn, and a adhesion worked railway.
Mürren has a population of just 450, but has 2,000 hotel beds, its own school and two churches, one Reformed and one Roman Catholic. The Views of The Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau are stunning. The Lauterbrunnen Valley below is possibly the most beautifully scenic place in the world.
