During stopover I had a chance to take some shots.Actually,Tashkent
airport is one of the most interesting and unexplored for me.But the
huge numbers of IL-76,86 as well as Tu-154,Yak-40,An-26 draws me.
Here is one of the four presented on the apron IL-114.Unfortunately,the USSR collapse and subsequent political and econimic situation shot down such a wonderful project.
Some info: The Ilyushin Il-114 is a Russian airliner that first flew in 1990. Initially, orders for the aircraft were slow, but during the 2007 MAKS Airshow, Ilyushin announced the signing of a contract with Venezuela for a large purchase of 98 planes. However, according to Agence France-Presse, the state company Rosoboronexport, which has the monopoly for the export of arms of that country, denied participating in such an agreement. Current operators are Vyborg in Russia and Uzbekistan Airways in Uzbekistan. Vyborg Airlines took delivery of an Ilyushin 114 at MAKS 2005.
The Il-114 is a twin-engine turboprop for local routes in the Antonov An-24 class. Altogether, 14 planes have been built. (C)Wikipedia
