Proto Chicago bitmap, 1973
The thick vertical stems, the thin horizontals, the narrow S, the size of the counters, general width and proportion.
Could this have been an inspiration for Susan Kare's Chicago bitmap design? This is not to point the finger, the typeface is different in many critical places, it has a lowercase and solves a few of the problems presented in this drawing.
I'm just curious whether Kare might have had a copy of Elsie Svennas "A Handbook Of Lettering For Stitchers", Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1973.
