Shell found at Casuarina Reserve, Darwin. NT. Australia

Shell found on the beach, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.
    Casuarina Coastal Reserve

The reserve stretches from the mouth of Rapid Creek to Lee Point. The highlights are long white sandy beaches fringed by Casuarina trees, and beautiful sandstone cliffs. Behind the beaches and dunes are mangrove and monsoon vine thickets, patches of rainforest and paperbark forest.

The Reserve protects areas of cultural and historical significance. Old Man Rock (Dariba Nunggalinya) is a registered Aboriginal Sacred Site. Although fishing is permitted, disturbing the rock in any way or the removal of shellfish at this site is prohibited. World War II artillery observation posts provide a graphic reminder of the area's wartime involvement.
