this is a painting I did of my father in the 80s

I had dreams of being a painter, you know, gallery in NYC, everything. My dad just died this week suddenly, he was 81. I painted these big 5'x5' portraits, that's all I liked doing really, even as a painter. JEFF KOONS had a studio visit (I was at EMPIRE STATE COLLEGE) right after I'd painted this, and he said "your brushwork makes my makes my genitalia tingle" YEAH! hahaha he really said that, and the class sort of stood there quietly, hahahah but that was the best. He really liked the paint application... he explained of course hahahah.

The fuckin best.

Go Dad Painting! Rock on!

Whenever my dad would see my paintings, drawings, he'd say "aren't you going to finish it?" hahahaha I always wondered what painting he saw this as becoming.
