Cannon Beach in all its glory, if a little moody. Turned out to be a spectacular sunset

I really like the mood of this picture... the tones are really amazing!, I think that the almost reflection of the sky is pretty cool, I like that everything is in a "grey scale" except for the orange spot of the sun!... excellent picture well done. I don't have any correction, I think that the angle and the crop and excellent, and also the composition. Well done

      Damn.
This is absolutely gorgeous, between the reflections, the clouds, the rocks, and that bit of mist/waves on the rock. You've nailed every single aspect of this shot, between the pattern in the sand, the colors, the composition. It's all perfect. I have nothing to say about this that is bad, or needs correcting. beautifully done.

Initial Impression: A very moody and interesting photo.

Composition: I like the warm colors of the sunset in the sky and reflected on the beach contrasted the hard rocks and threatening sky. I get a clear sense of linear perspective as my eye travels from the beach into the background. The sky makes me think of some HDR images. However, I think the composition lacks a clear subject. I think if you cropped out the bottom quarter of the image more of the visual emphasis would be on the rocks making them a good subject.

If possible I would shoot this from a different angle so that the sunset is more behind the rocks and compliments those beautiful rocks with all the detail.

Technical: It appears to me that your exposure suits the mood you were trying to set with this image. I looked at the large size and decided that I agreed with your choice of shutter speed. I was looking at line where the waves hit the beach. There is mist and spray there but it hasn’t gone milky. I also liked all the shadow detail on the largest rock.

      Overall: Good.

I hope you found my comments helpful.

Very moody shot. First thing i'll point out is the fantasic way that only a bit of the crimson sunset colour peeks out, awe inspiring. Great reflections and symmettry. The rock serve well as a resting point for the veiwer. The slight underexposure works well to enhannce the moodiness of the photo. One odd point is the horizon line, it's neither on a third or center line. Visually it's not distracting really, but from a technicall point of veiw it's seems odd (on purpose?). Very well done (Y)

Nice moody image with a great reflection of the sun in the sand,Is this HDR?
The composition is ok but when I look at the image I can't help thinking that there whould have been a more interesting shot if you had moved in closer to the waves hitting those rocks. But overall nice shot.
