Linnaeus (Head of Carl von Linné) by Paul Granlund
This sculpture of Carl von Linné (aka Carolus Linnaeus) can be seen in the Linnaeus Arboretum at Gustavus Adolphus College. Some photos I took of this a few years back (and more information on the sculpture) are on the Paul Granlund at Gustavus site. Interestingly, it was this guy's 300th birthday this year.
I have taken at least a few hundred photos of this sculpture and for some reason I still find it a challenging subject to photograph. This time I decided to go as the sun was setting behind the sculpture and take an HDR. I really like this approach because it allows me to get the beautiful reds and oranges of the sunset while capturing the brown and cool reflected blue of the bronze sculpture.
