Galapagos Hawk

The Galapagos Hawk is an endemic buteo, and in our brief tour not sighted often. They have been found on 9 of the islands, and over 500 birds have been banded and had genetic testing as part of a large population genetics study. These hawks are often polyandrous, whereby several males mate with a single female and then stay around to help raise the chicks.
