Neophyter F-7 Tiktaalik
After experiencing the disadvantages of bigger fighters, mainly problems with agility, the Neophyters decided to acquire (some might call it 'stealing') an example of the highly experimental 26-0785 engine. Around this engine the Tiktaalik was built - a revolutionary new fighter, which proved to be extremely fast, and manoeuvrable like few other vessels. It did, however, demand exceptional skills from its pilots. The speed with which the Tiktaalik could move meant it didn't need as much armor as the Neophyters' previous fighters, as evasive manoeuvres would be successful almost every time. It also featured a traditional belly-mounted gun as well as a front-mounted adjustable laser, well suited for attacking hostile ships after sneaking up on them.
My (extremely late) entry for the fifth round of the Starfighter Telephone Game, this is the first spaceship I've built since I was about nine (which is - ouch! - getting close to thirty years ago). I've been procrastinating like crazy, but I finally got it done, and it ended up pretty much exactly like I wanted it to. Thanks to Markus for applying necessary pressure and to Birgitte for support regarding the organic shape. And of course to Pete, for providing this for inspiration - although I have to admit I have also turned to the five previous fighters for design cues.
A copy of this is now on its way to 6kyubi6 in France, and yes, I've apologised profusely for the delay...
