Quote by Edgar Allan Poe

My first serious attempt on a self-portrait.

I would like to recount on the slash mark on my right cheek. When I was 3, I used to wonder "Why is that only my father can shave and not me? Why shouldn't I try doing it myself?" Once when everyone was out, I dragged a stool all the way from our kitchen to the toilet, climbed on it and dragged his sharp razor across my cheek. Blood dripped all over my cheek, while I was seriously staring at the mirror to see if I had done it right.

It's a good attempt. I like the way you wrote the back story of the scar.

I'm in the middle of reading this book American Gods by Neil Gaiman, and I thought it's quite a coincidence that you did this portrait. I used the word "coincidence" because of the significance of your portrait title on dreams.

Very oft I get lost in a train of thoughts; the quote actually means a lot to me. Edgar Allan Poe is a poet whom I keep in a very high esteem; I like him and his rebellious nature, questioning the conventions. I guess, to understand the 'coincidence', I should read American Gods to see how it relates dreams. Thanks Venus :)

    Super self-portrait and quote!

I remember finding my Grandfather's used razor blade in the bathroom and lifting it to look ... I still have quite a bad scar but luckily it is on my finger. Kids are just inquisitive and like to copy.

I wouldn't have noticed yours if you hadn't said.

Thanks Lynn! Yeah, kids definitely are inquisitive. Thats what makes them fun to be with :)

Actually, my friends say its not visible at all, in person. By your comment, looks like its not very visible in this photo neither. However, I just wanted to do this anecdote, since its kinda related to the quote, to me atleast.

I like this portrait very much and your "scar" adds some character to your face. Don't worry about it. The tones in this portrait are nice and even.

Also, I might add that you are a very handsome young man and have really nice hair, nice eyes and a beautifully shaped mouth. You would be fun for any photographer to photograph BUT BUT BUT you have done a very good job yourself with this photograph. My compliments.
