Welcome Sophie Clare Fowler

Melissa and I arrived at the hospital this morning at about 6am to be induced. However when we arrived, she was already dialated 4-5cm and was contracting every 3 minutes, though she did not even realize it. The doctor said that between noon and two Sophie should arrive. Melissa recieved her epidural around 9:00 and said it was painless. the anestesiologist was very gentle and did a nice job. At 10:00am the nurse came to empty her bladder, and then checked her cervix again to surprisingly find that she was fully dialated and effaced and sophie was ready to go. They quickly called the doctor back to the hospital. He arrived and after about 6 or 8 pushes, little Sophie Clare was born 4 and a half hours after we arrived at 10:35am weighing 5 pounds and 8 ounces (2.5 kilos) and measuring 19 inches (48.26 cm) long. She had strong lungs and good color. she spent a little time under the heat lamp to keep her temperature up where it should be. Sophie is spending the night in the nursery so that they can monitor her breathing as it was a little fast at the beginning but is slowing down and relaxing as she transitions from breathing internally to externally. She has great color, great movement, strong vocal cords. Shes a perfect little beauty with my nose and melissa's cheeks, toes, and fingers.

I hope tomorrow when she comes back to the room, that I can get some photos in stronger light. the labor room was a little dark and I didn't want to use a flash or tripod so i hope these will do for now.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, your prayers, and your words of encouragement. All three of us greatly appreciate you all.
