Life Cycle of the Sunflower
I've transplanted seedlings planted in clumps by squirrels, only to see some get eaten by bunnies. The bees pollinate the flowers. Some grow (big or small and in different colors) to feed the goldfinches and mourning doves on their seeds. The squirrels try to climb up to the flowers and eat seeds too, often breaking the stems and stealing the entire flower head. I rescue some toppled blooms for flower vases, and collect any surviving seeds for replanting if they are interesting varieties. The red and yellow varieties will intermix.
