    celebrating friendship, seed starting and eating garden (nearly) fresh foods...perfect!

    we have been already receiving swaps in the mail, and doing this in person is just so good!

    Well, I missed this comment until just now. ;-)

    I make croissants at work and had tons of day olds in the freezer. You could just as easily use stale baguettes. Just chop up enough to fit whatever vessel you want to bake it in- let's say a 9x13 pan. Then fry up one large leek with some celery and sage and stir into the chopped croissants. The custard it just a ratio- one egg yolk will thicken 1/2 c. cream. For the 9x13 I'd do 4 c. cream and 8 egg yolks. This is not a diet dish! For mine I used raw milk which had most of the cream still on top but when we dug in, the bottom had not set up. This was solved by eating the top and throwing it back in the oven. I also added about 1/2 of Gruyere cheese. Hope this helps.
