- Not often do I upload two versions of the same image here on flickr,
but this time I really liked both versions and couldn`t help myself.
Also, I know many of you like viewing wide landscapes, especially when earth and sky comes so nicely together as here, and this is for you.
- I believe every living being has some kind of special place where we feel at "home".
It can not always be found when looking for it, and for those who might find it, the strong feeling may be utterly difficult to describe and the sense of logic exceeds our everyday way of thinking.
Such strong and personal emotions, can prove to be a challenge to try to share with someone.
Not everyone can identify with your thoughts and feeling on this matter and many has no clue what the heck you are talking about either.
For me, landscapes of ice and snow and majestic mountains are like beacons to me, I cannot wait long before I go and I miss it too much when I return.
Since I was a small boy, dreams of flying through Arctic landscape has had a very strong influence on me and there is no other place I`d rather be. I find it magical and dramatic yet so perfectly serene and beautiful.
Maybe that`s why I love the flying sequence with the boy and The Snowman in the animated movie from the book by Raymond Briggs, 1972.
Again, I believe that many will identify with their own dreams, if they are only reminded about it and take the time to ponder.
- Ranten Peak (1419 m./4655 ft.), Norway, January 2, 2009.
The morning starting off with clear (boring) blue sky, I used the hours to ski around on front of the mountain to find a way to shoot it right on. When observing cloud formations in the western horizon I waited till they sweeped over Ranten Peak and shot 8 images with different compositions.
