Why oh why did I take this invite from Quornflake ? I should have listened to AndWhyNot about the distances involved. We yomped paratrooper style up a frozen hill, skidded down an old quarry and walked for bastard miles in the wrong direction up a hill looking for a digger that turned out to be miles from where we were. Another descent and a reverse trudge in the opposite direction, over a barbed wire infested gate and finally we arrived at a derelict house instead of a digger ! Dan had to re-energise me with yum yums to avoid carrying me home through exhaustion. Shot the ruined house scene at f5.6 ISO 6400 !!!!!! which was obviously slightly brighter in appearance than I required. Re-shot it then ran a star trail that was incorrectly programmed to provide a 7 second delay between exposures. Idiot. To top it off it was more cold than you could possibly imagine. Torches froze, fireworks failed, lighters died, drinks froze, clothing froze, all kit was frosted over and I ended up with a shot that I could have taken of Dan outside my own damn house and been in bed by 8pm as opposed to 2am.
Dan has got to take most the credit here for standing still in sub-zero temperatures while I handled his amazingly capable tool !
My usual Nikon settings with CWB for 93.4seconds.
Refreshments were organic drinking cocoa and yum yums.
