The Final Tally

    Newer Older

As of April 1, California's snowpack is at 50 percent of normal. Despite a good March, and a huge storm which essentially raised the snowpack from 30 percent at the beginning of the month, we are still at awful low levels. The snow has already started melting, and our waterfall season will be a short one. Time to get out and enjoy the waterfalls now, while you can!

This is from a couple weeks ago, at Russian Gulch State Park. An easy hike to a small but pretty waterfall. The jumble of logs really adds to the character of this waterfall, in my opinion.

Beautiful shot of a shapely falls. It's a shame that there hasn't been more snow and rain, not just because of the short waterfall season but because of the scarcity of fresh drinking water. I myself can't decide which is worse. Let's just hope for more water!

This one is absolutely stunning. Beautiful waterfall spread and mossy greens. I also agree the logjam adds to this shot!

When I was there a few years ago the water wasn't so evenly distributed. This looks much nicer to me

One day I'd like to be there when there is that much water. Nice take Leon.
