Whiskeytown Falls is a recently "re-discovered" waterfall located in Whiskeytown Natl. Rec. Area near Redding CA. It made international headlines last year after having amazingly been unknown by park staff for over 40 years. The park built a new trail to the falls, which was officially opened to the public this past August.
I was able to visit it earlier this year in Feb. when my wife and I received a personal guided tour to the falls from the park superintendent. I returned here during Thanksgiving weekend by myself to do more exploring and photo taking.
The waterfall is a 220 ft. high cascade in 3 sections, not all visible at one time. This is the lower section, about 35 ft. high.
