    dwweber: well, how about that?

I was the fat lady front row other side that was cowering in her seat holding her ears all through Marshall Allen's performance.

Yeah, I have a photo of you taking this photo of me ... surely they give prizes on Flickr for people who inadvertently do this! I found the amplification to be a bit loud at times myself, but I think it depended on where you were sitting. There were only certain frequencies that were really, I mean REALLY, uncomfortable. I still enjoyed it though. And what an incredible venue.

    Too funny!

I found the amplification too loud during the entire second half, the Electronic Saxophone sounds to be generally uncomfortable, and certain frequencies to be unbearable. I was almost in tears from the pain, even holding my ears, and I seriously considered walking out.

They should have done a sound check on his amplification, no question about that. I remember the Sun Ra Arkestra being very loud, and I wonder if some of the long-term players have lost some of their hearing and they don't realize how loud it sounds to others.

My seatmate thought that Marshall Allen might have been enjoying the discomfort of the audience.
