wild(er)ness exhibit - nov 2014
12 images, printed 12" x 12". for group exhibit on campus, nov 2014

This portfolio explores the concept of wildness, looking for it in perhaps-unexpected places with a nearly-extinct type of camera and film. Too often people presume that the only “true” wild is located in far-off mountains, usually publicly owned land and legally designated as wilderness. On the contrary, wildness can be found in our backyards, or on the side of the road, or in a rancher’s pasture. The scale of the wild can stretch from a single plant to an enormous coastline. Sometimes the wild is only a trace left behind, like the bent grasses where deer bedded down for the night. These polaroid images remind us to keep our eyes open for the wildness that might be right under our noses.
