108/365 Goldfish Bowl (after Matisse)
Roy Lichtenstein created three of these painted bronze sculptures. When one of them was sold at Christie's that website talked about his approrpiation of Matisse's Goldfish and Palette. Lichtenstein, as many contemporary artists have done, appropriates images. Here he's working hard at making a three dimensional piece look two dimensional. Goldfish is displayed near Interiors in which Lichtenstein is busy making a two dimensional work of art look three dimensional.
Both of these pieces are on loan. PAM's curator works hard to get many works of art on loan for us to enjoy.
Here's a link to a review of Matisse's work that includes an image of Goldfish and Palette.
