Fall Ducklings

Newer Older

Explore #53 October 13th, 2007

Went to the kitchen to make dinner, looked out the window and lo and behold...new fall ducklings!
I've never seen the mama duck before but I guess word got out that there is food at my house so she brought her brood of six *very tiny* ducklings over for some dinner!

They are so tiny that they could fit in the palm of my hand. The momma duckling was very leery of me and didn't let me get as close as I got with Mama Muscovy ducklings.

Speaking of Mama Muscovy's ducklings, which are now teen ducks, well they were NOT too happy with this lot coming in on their territory but they all did manage to share the same space with just a few nips and honks here and there!

Who knows if I will see them again or if they will survive but I'm hopin'!!

Lovely shot. Love the fine details of this tiny duckling especially the one in the foreground. Looks like she got a bit wet around the chest. You caught her in a beautiful stance.
