Star Attraction

The color red, restored by my underwater flash, neatly accents this enormous sea star. I took this photo at a depth of about 50 ft. at Viuda (Widow) dive site in Coiba National Park, Panama. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

At this depth, all of the natural red light has been filtered out by the seawater and this starfish looks dark brown without the aid of artificial light.

This is a Panamic Cushion Star (Pentaceraster cumingi)
