Yellowstone Geyser Rainbow

I was actually all set up to shoot Old Faithful when this geyser, known as "Beehive", went off behind me. In many respects it is more impressive a display than Old Faithful (which isn't quite what it once was because of magma movement deep below the earth) but is far less predictable. Fortunately I was all set with my camera on a monopod and with a polarizer already in place, which helped bring out the colors of the rainbow. Some times you are just in the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment--and luck favors a prepared photographer.
