Les princes ne sont pas les seuls à aimer leurs chats : les anges aussi, et même certains humains...

I love the culture and the civilization of the Ancient Egypt, perhaps because the Egyptians have worshiped the cats..!!! :-)

I should state for the record that this is the limestone sarcophagus for the cat of the crown prince Thutmose, the eldest son of pharaoh Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye. He was the elder brother of Akhenaten and the designated successor of Amenhotep III but died late in his father's reign. So his younger brother Akhenaten took the throne instead...and the rest, as we say, is history!

Prince Thutmose is best remembered for this limestone sarcophagus of his cat shown here which he called "Ta-miu" which means 'She-cat.' (my source on the sarcophagus is Arielle Kozloff & Betsy Bryan's book Egypt’s Dazzling Sun: Amenhotep III and his World, (Cleveland, 1992), p.425, fig.XIV.1)

      I hope this helps.
