Love the composition and details in the background. The way the green is wrapped is also very elegant and pretty. Soft light. Really nice.

Thanks Bea! The wrapping was a bit tricky because the spinach is baby spinach... so little steamed leaves coated in sauce tended to slip around. But, I like how it looks like it is hugging itself.

Good shot. You're right about the hugging, nice :-)

I like the two light sources. It gives a sense of place, inside and outside.

for me I'd like to brush some oil on the spinach; it may look nicer. What do you think?

      Thanks Lucy!

Gattina - ah, it would add some sheen certainly. But, this was my dinner and I don't think I would have liked oil on it from a flavor perspective. I try to make everything that I photograph exactly as I would want to eat it.

      understand :)
I think the food styling and DOF are super.

I like the fact that bloggers take pictures of edible food, rather than using all of the professional tricks. I like this pic a lot. Maybe would have preferred a slightly difference size ration between the dish and the background - ie have the dish fill 2 thirds of screen instead of the 50% balance you have now.

      Thanks Sam.

I have one with more overall balance too, but this one said "green" to me more.

looks delicious. So glad you did not doctor it up with oil. I like food as food. There is beauty in what it is - delicious and healthy sustenance. not a supermodel acting like spinach.
