Queen of the Night
Being an artist is all about listening to the voices in your head and expressing them through media that other people can experience as well. One of my resolutions this year is to listen harder to the voices in my head and follow through I’m expressing them (no matter how silly!). This is why, when it occurred to me the other day that Mozart’s Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute was actually an owl (think of all the birds! And her coloratura aria!), I decided to keep with the #owltheme and bring her to life in a painting for my daughter, who has been learning to sing the fancy bit of the aria.
Acrylic on wooden panel, 10” x 20.”
