Seijin Shiki Ceremony 2017
On January 9th Langara held a special Coming of Age Ceremony (Seijin Shiki) for three students in the Canadian School of Takudai Program. In Japan, the Seijin Shiki Ceremony is held annually on the second Monday of January to congratulate and encourage all those who have reached the age of majority (20) during the past year. The ceremony is held at local and prefectural offices and is followed by parties with family and friends of the new adults. Since our students could not be in Japan to attend this event, our ceremony provided an opportunity for them to celebrate this important occasion with their Canadian host families, college staff, invited dignitaries, and friends.
