1,621-3-60 ... COMPARE TO ORIGINAL PHOTO BELOW
Or see the original photo by my Flickr friend "drakegoodman" at www.flickr.com/photos/drakegoodman/6096200892/
I downloaded his photo and enhanced it to bring out detail in the black shadows. ... He gave me permission to post it here, in my photostream.
I used Apple's "iPhoto" that came with my new iMac computer. ... Other software can maybe do the same thing ... but ONLY if it has a feature called "Highlights and shadows". ... It's the "shadows" part that I love because it brightens the shadows to reveal whatever is hidden in those pitch black areas ... without touching the rest of the photo. ... If you simply brighten the photo it MIGHT reveal details in the shadows BUT it may make the rest of the photo too bright.
This is most important to people like me who build model airplanes and worry about accuracy of details, ... or just like to drool over the details in an airplane photo.
But it can improve "regular" photos too, like this: www.flickr.com/photos/landoni/6080583436/
Adobe Photoshop has the "Highlights and shadows" feature but it costs an two arms and three legs.
By the way, the plane is a World War One German Fokker E.III (LF 196) airplane belonging to Leutnant zur See Gotthard Sachsenberg of Nr 1 Marine Feldflieger Abteilung.
