February 12, 2010--A pretty significant weather system passed through and dumped about 3 inches of snow on most of the Atlanta area. I went out walking and taking pictures with some friends while it was still snowing pretty heavily, and keeping my camera dry proved to be a challenge, even with a plastic bag over it. As we were walking, I came across this balloon in the street, and we all had a good laugh over the irony.
It snowed pretty heavily for four or five hours, and it even started accumulating on the roads a bit, which is unusual for here. (Usually, the pavement stays too warm for snow to stick, but both times it's snowed this winter, it's actually stuck to the concrete!) Accumulations were more where the snow was more protected and the surfaces were cooler; I had about 5 inches on my porch.
